The 24 Certifications Being Retired

These certifications will no longer be available after August 31, 2026. If you already hold one, it remains valid—but with a catch we'll cover below.

The Big Patterns

  • CPQ is consolidating. Three CPQ-related credentials (CPQ Admin, CPQ & Billing Consultant, and Industries CPQ Developer) are all pointing toward Revenue Cloud. If you work in CPQ, Revenue Cloud Consultant is your next destination.
  • Marketing Cloud APs are clearing the runway. Four Marketing Cloud APs are retiring, but Salesforce has explicitly said new Agentforce Marketing certifications are coming in late 2026. This is a strategic pivot, not an elimination.
  • Industry clouds are being re-evaluated. Energy & Utilities, Consumer Goods, Media Cloud, and Contact Center APs are all on the list. Salesforce is reassessing how industry-specific credentials fit into the Agentforce era.
  • MuleSoft is in flux. Both MuleSoft certifications are retiring without a direct replacement. The skills are being "evaluated for future products"—read into that what you will.

The 16 Certifications Being Renamed

Effective July 24, 2026, these certifications get new names. The exam content is not changing. If you hold one, you don't need to retake anything—the name just updates on your Trailblazer profile.

What the Renames Tell Us

The word "Agentforce" now appears in 9 of the 16 renamed certifications. That's not a coincidence. Salesforce is making a clear statement: the future of its platform is AI-driven, and certifications need to reflect that.

A few non-Agentforce changes are also worth noting:

  • Marketing Cloud Email Specialist → Engagement Specialist — reflects the product's expanded scope beyond email.
  • Revenue Cloud Consultant → Revenue Management Consultant — a subtle but significant shift from "cloud" to "management," emphasizing the business outcome over the product.
  • B2C Commerce Cloud Developer → B2C Commerce Developer — dropping the redundant "Cloud" for cleaner naming.

What Happens to Your Existing Certifications?

This is the question everyone asks. Here's the straight answer:

If You Hold a Retired Certification

  • Your certification remains valid. It does not expire or get revoked.
  • It stays on your Trailblazer profile as a permanent record of your achievement.
  • It will be marked as "Retired" on your profile after February 1, 2027.
  • It will no longer appear on the public certification verification page. This is the one real downside—employers and recruiters who verify credentials online won't see it listed there.
  • You do not need to complete maintenance for retired certifications going forward.

If You Hold a Renamed Certification

  • Nothing changes except the name. Your certification automatically updates to the new name on July 24, 2026.
  • No re-examination required.
  • No maintenance changes.

What Should You Do Right Now?

If you're mid-study on a retiring certification

Finish before August 31, 2026. You have roughly 10 weeks from the announcement to sit the exam. The credential will remain valid on your profile indefinitely. If you can realistically complete your prep in that window, go for it.

If you haven't started yet

Pivot to the successor path. Here are the smart bets:

Instead of... Go for...
CPQ Administrator Revenue Cloud Consultant
CPQ and Billing Consultant AP Revenue Cloud Consultant
Education Cloud Consultant Platform Admin + Data 360 Consultant
NPSP Consultant Nonprofit Cloud Consultant
Marketing Cloud APs Wait for Agentforce Marketing (late 2026)
Heroku Developer AP Heroku Architect

If you already hold retiring certifications

No action required. Your credential stays valid. But consider this a signal to start building skills in the successor areas—especially Revenue Cloud and Agentforce—before the market shifts.

Why Is Salesforce Doing This?

Salesforce gave three official reasons:

  1. Maintain certification value. Certifications that no longer reflect market demand dilute the value of the entire program.
  2. Align with current products. Some certifications cover products that have been superseded or absorbed into newer offerings.
  3. Focus on in-demand skills. With Agentforce and AI-driven automation becoming central to the platform, the certification catalog needs to reflect where the ecosystem is heading.

Translation: the certifications that matter most going forward will have "Agentforce" in the name or will be aligned with Revenue Cloud, Data Cloud, and the core platform.

The Bottom Line

This is the biggest certification shake-up Salesforce has done in years. But it's not chaos—it's a clear direction. The retirement list removes credentials that no longer serve the market, and the rename list signals where Salesforce is investing.

Your move: Check the lists above. If any of your current or planned certifications are affected, make your decision now—the clock is already ticking.
